Adult Ministry

Sunday School / Bible Study

Parkland provides Bible study classes for every age group and life need which people experience. We realize that to truly experience the abundant life in Christ it is important to be involved in Bible study with others seeking a closer relationship with God. As a church, we believe our Sunday School has reason to exist, the purpose of this ministry is as follows:

Sunday School is Parkland’s foundational strategy in leading people to faith in Christ and for building Great Commission/On Mission Christians through Bible study groups that engage people in evangelism, discipleship, fellowship, ministry, and worship. The driving force of this strategy must be the Great Commission.

We are all at different points in our personal journey yet we all “fit” into this great strategy, there is a class just for you! Click on Dual Sunday School Location to see which class YOU could be involved in.

Missions Emphasis for All Ages

Parkland has a rich history and tradition of being very mission oriented. It began in 1889 in a street shelter on Catalpa Avenue. From that humble beginning Parkland (the people) have inspired many other young people and adults to enter Christian service. It just seems so natural to pass on that legacy of “being and doing Missions” to every age group person that enters into the Parkland fellowship. Our ongoing goal will always be to educate about missions, involve everyone willing in mission efforts, and sending out those called by God to serve on mission.

Focus Groups for All Ages

Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU) – is Parkland’s premier organization that offers missions-related experiences and opportunities for all age-level groups from preschoolers through adults. WMU is fellowship, Bible study, witnessing, discussing local or world issues, doing ministry projects, growing spiritually, learning about God’s love, becoming aware of needs, and supporting missions nationally and internationally. Women do great things for God as they personally get involved. . WMU can mean new opportunities, new friends, or even new ways to give and to receive God’s message of salvation.

Baptist Men on Mission / Brotherhood – promotes fellowship, missions education, inspiration, and opportunities to be personally involved in taking the love of Jesus to our community and world. This is a healthy way for Baptist men to get active in living out their God given mission each day. As a church we are encouraging men to deliberately mentor younger men and boys to develop an “on Mission” lifestyle. In addition, intentional projects and trips are planned to give each man at Parkland a chance to see God at work in our world by joining Him.

Discipleship Training

For the Parkland family, discipleship is not defined as a “class” but it encompasses all we do as a church to build followers of Christ. We desire each member to understand their place in the body of Christ (Parkland), their call to minister, their world, and the ways to impact all we do for Christ. Discipleship can be viewed as the lifelong journey of obedience to Christ that transforms a person’s values and behavior and results in ministry in one’s home, church, and the world. We desire effective discipleship that is intentional, ongoing, and comprehensive in church practice. We encourage members to take advantage of offered classes to help them personally at whatever point they are in their Christian development. Maturing disciples making a difference is our goal so we can continue to be a church that is “Reaching and Developing People for Christ”

Believing God-bethmoore

Believing God: Experiencing a Fresh Explosion of Faith is an in-depth women’s Bible study based on Isaiah 43:10 that explores what it means not only “to believe in God” but “to believe Him.”  Through studying the lives of Abraham, Moses, and others as examples of persons who believed God, it encourages us to deepen our own trust in God and receive a fresh word from Him. Class begins Wednesday, February 15 at 5:45p.m. in room 113 and led by Tami Caballeros.

Old Testament

Survey of the Old Testament – we are excited to give our members and interested guests the chance to really get into the Bible. Click on the following link to gain more insights on the experience called Secret Church. The class will begin on Sunday, February 12 at 6 p.m. in Room 202 and led by Zack Ford.

Move to CraveMade to Crave: Satisifying Your Deepest Desire with God not Food isn’t a how-to book or a diet plan. It’s the missing link between a woman’s desire to be healthy and the spiritual empowerment needed to make it happen. Lysa Terkeurst taps into the desires God gave us to consume food without letting it consume us. She reminds readers that craving isn’t a bad thing, but we must remember that God wants us to crave more of Him, not food. Introduction on Wednesday, February 8 at 5:45 p.m. in room 204. Class led by Sherry York.
